I would like to thank this smart board, as well as my partition dividing wall.  

They served as a somewhat "blank" canvas to take pictures over the last 4 years.  More than half of my images have appeared in one of these locations.  

I have been really lucky to find a marketing position post MBA with a great company that I love working for!  So with that said, I say goodbye teaching career, goodbye classroom shots, and celebrate my new position with my last classroom post.

The Striped Maxi

 

I recently saw a ridiculously stylish woman in Scottsdale wearing this skirt.  I instantly assumed I would never afford it based on her handbag and shoes...and decided to make a copycat version.  Imagine my joy one month later when T.J. Maxx had this baby on a rack!  Miracles happen!

Haboob!

We have had several haboobs in AZ this year. No, I'm not being crude, that's the technical name for a dust storm that engulfs the sky. I've watched it turn from day to night by a storm in seconds. This was a pre-haboob storm that wasn't making my camera very happy and the flash and zoom kept doing weird things. Nonetheless, I got one clear full body shop. Sometimes I settle. Also, somedays (as evidenced above) I don't wear makeup. Probably the combo of the two wasn't so great, but at least I was happy with the outfit!

Knit Dreams

I'm ready for summer to end, I'm ready to see temps below 100+ degrees, and I'm especially ready to get my cardigan and jacket on soon.  Until then I have decided to sew my own light weight stuff that is higher quality.  So ta-da, sewing project #1, a  gray knit skirt.  It cost about $3 to buy the patter, $2 for a yard of fabric, and 20 minutes on a sewing machine.  I was amazed that an amateur like me could pull off a skirt that fast.  Here's to hoping it doesn't fall apart!  :)

Spring Breeze

We're in that time of year, not quite hot, definitely no longer cold. I love playing with my transitional pieces and throwing my summer/fall (we don't have winter in AZ) stuff together.

Fondue Date Night

I decided to celebrate our 2 months of being married I would re-create The Melting Pot experience at home. It took a few easy recipes, lots of chopping, and a picnic set up in our living room to create a really awesome date at home. I needed something I felt cute in, could cook in, and could sit cross-legged on the floor. I think overall the date was a success, and the outfit did what I needed!

Orange Groves

I have been very lucky to live in orange groves the past 2.5 years. Our trees produce so much citrus you could feed a homeless shelter (most our neighbors do just that)! I love that I wake up and pick an orange or grapefruit for breakfast all winter long- it's really a cool thing. I'm going to ignore the fact that scorpians burrow in orange trees and just celebrate my last 2 weeks of living here before I get hitched and move in with the fiance. I have been feeling the color orange lately- probably the lamenting of missing my beloved trees.

"Little Wing" - Jimi Hendrix

Hendrix is such an easy one to start things off for The Music Inspiration Challenge because he is a style icon! Have you ever thought how much this man impacted style at the time? The 70's would not have been the same! I went with my most 70's iconic pieces, a maxi dress and a military jacket. The purple flowers scream Jimi, of course there had to be something bling-y or shiny, and I wanted to copy the military influenced clothing that he wore to make a statement.

Channeling Winter Wonderland

I haven't seen snow in almost 2 years now, and I have to say I'm missing it a little. I don't want it forever, just for a day or two. I was thinking of the pretty blue/gray/white hues, and I felt inspired to wear this color scheme to channel my own winter wonderland.
