"Little Wing" - Jimi Hendrix

Hendrix is such an easy one to start things off for The Music Inspiration Challenge because he is a style icon! Have you ever thought how much this man impacted style at the time? The 70's would not have been the same! I went with my most 70's iconic pieces, a maxi dress and a military jacket. The purple flowers scream Jimi, of course there had to be something bling-y or shiny, and I wanted to copy the military influenced clothing that he wore to make a statement.

Nice Girl look

Cami: Gap, $10, Cardigan: Target, $9, Jeans: Aeropostale, $20, Shoes: Latin Market, $2, Earrings: NY&Co, about $5

Guess what I realized, I graduate with my MBA in 5 months! I was cleaning through pictures and found this outfit I wore back in late October. I had a final for a class, took the day of work, went to lunch (instead of packing a Bentgo Lunch Idea) with my now fiance, and studied my guts out. I think I was going to the innocent school girl vibe so my professor who I think was afraid of me after asking lots of questions on why he worded a quiz a certain way would think I am a nice person after all. I am, I promise, I just really wanted in A in the class with the hardest reputation in my program! I was thrilled with that A-, let's thank the color pink!

Music Inspiration Challenge

Last year my sister, http://overturesandorganza.blogspot.com/ , and I gave each other a challenge. We assigned each other 12 songs that we think will stretch the other person, and you are responsible to come up with a look to go with each song. It was a great challenge!
Here was my list:

Don't Wait – Dashboard Confessional

Billie Jean – Michael Jackson

Human – The Killers

Don't Stop Believin – Journey

Day Tripper – The Beatles

Flightless Bird, American Mouth – Iron & Wine

Poker Face – Lady GaGa

This Is Not a Test – She & Him

Fireflies – Owl City

Starlight- Muse

Blame it On the Girls – Mika

Good Vibrations – Beach Boys

Here's a recap:

So, naturally we decided to do it annually, maybe even more often. I am starting on Monday, my sister started this week. We're excited to stretch ourselves and try some new looks. Maybe it will get me out of the funk I'm in.
SO here's your challenge- if you want to play along you can go to her blog or mine and choose one of the lists. You could also have a friend with different music taste than yourself pick 12 songs for you. You have a month to complete all 12 looks. Choose clothes that inspire you as you listen, that you think you may wear during a music video to the song, or something inspired by the artist to mood. I hope at least some of you will play along, it's a lot of fun!

Here's my list this year:

  1. "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off" - Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong
  2. "French Navy" - Camera Obscura
  3. "Love Music" -Earth, Wind, and Fire
  4. "Turn it On" - Franz Ferdinand
  5. "Virtual Insanity" - Jamiroquai
  6. "Little Wing" - Jimi Hendrix
  7. "1901" - Phoenix
  8. "Harajuku Girls" - Gwen Stefani
  9. "I've Never Woken Up in Handcuffs Before" - Hans Zimmer
  10. "Good Old Fashioned Loverboy" - Queen
  11. "Rhapsody in Blue" - Gershwin
  12. "Little Secrets" - Passion Pit See you Monday!

1980 Something

I think I know my body well enough to know that small on top and larger on bottom works best- thus I have avoided most the 80's trends the past few years. I woke up and decided it's time to embrace it- er, at least for one day. I figured my pictures would tell the tale of if I can pull this off or not. Thoughts?

Channeling Winter Wonderland

I haven't seen snow in almost 2 years now, and I have to say I'm missing it a little. I don't want it forever, just for a day or two. I was thinking of the pretty blue/gray/white hues, and I felt inspired to wear this color scheme to channel my own winter wonderland.

The Dark Side

Posted by Picasa
Whenever we're together for the holidays my sister (http://overturesandorganza.blogspot.com/) and I like to play with my Dad's super nice Cannon. Oh one day I will buy something other than my point-and-shoot. I can't believe what a difference a camera makes!
I was feeling a little sassy during this shoot- the dark smoky eyes bring out the dark side in me!
