My Friend The Color Wheel

I played with color a little today, after looking at a color wheel and deciding I need to mix up my routine and do something besides navy/red. I also decided once again belts and skirts are the combo for me! Oh yeah, and I FINALLY got my bangs trimmed and some layers in my hair. Growing out has been super awkward the last two or three months, I am hoping I only have a couple more months to go until it's long and lush! These bangs may get me through though!

The Artistic Side Of Ralph Lauren

I think artsy-slick vibes had to be going through Ralph Lauren's head when this skirt was designed. I think pure joy was going through mine when I found this skirt for $8 at Last Chance- only to find the Easter sale made it half off. I know it's a little long, I've had a few people recommend shortening most my skirts. But, I'm a religious gal and simultaneous feminist (not an oxymoron) and I believe that yes clothes should flatter, but modesty will always be my first priority for respect to my body. Plus, I'm a teacher, and I sit in a tall chair in front of kids most days, modesty needs to be a priority!
With that said, I think if this one hit my knee it would look a little better, this is on skirt I may take an inch or two off, what do you think?

Belting

Thanks for all the fit advice a few posts ago, it's nice to know I'm not the only one and there are fashion "kindred spirits" out there who have been through my fit woes! I'm going to have to buy more belts I think. I'm a product of the 90's, and shirts were tight, pants were huge, and belts weren't really a part of fashion. Oh how I will be changing my ways. My next purchase is going to have to involve some more waist belts for my newer shape!
The grass ate my shoes, but they aren't too far off in color from the belt.

Monochromatic

Remember how I love blue right now? Seriously, this is a first! I was inspired by the J Crew catalog (I always am) to buy a fun cardigan and pair it with something monochromatic. Enjoy my "sexy" face- I didn't know I was capable of pulling one! This may be a one and only occurrence in my life!

In Bloom

I've been eyeing this sweater since it came out early winter at Anthro. I seriously considered paying the full $128 for about a minute. My little sister loved it more so I passed. Then, one magical day it was on sale- with two left in both our sizes. That is seriously my favorite part of shopping, followed closely by finding something is on sale you didn't think was.

5 Things I Love

I know most people are all a buzz about the http://www.academichic.com/, and I'll admit I am on that bandwagon! I feel like they are the cool girls everyone likes- but they aren't even trying to be cool- just themselves! I have loved their looks for a while, how could I resist, have I mentioned my love affair with school and professional clothes?
I was impressed this week that they challenged their readers to come up with 5 things they love about their bodies. Most of us have lists about our terrible items. For a girl with a changing body, and some appearance issues due to PCOS, this was a good thing for me.
Here's my 5:

1. Collarbones- they poke out no matter what my weight is!
2. Athletic calves, I hate the top but love the bottom! Running gives you great legs!
3. Waist: I have a tiny waist, always defined. Sometimes hard to dress, but I enjoy it!
4. Height: I am short, almost 5′4 and I love wearing heels and looking average or wearing flats to be the small girl
5. Eyes: They change colors with what I’m wearing and I never know if I’ll get green or blue, it’s fun to dress for the eyes!

So there you go, I like a few things most of the time!
If you haven't already done this, I want any reader out there to do this! It feels good to consider some things you love about your body- go write your 5, and let me know, I'd LOVE to read them!

Sick Day

I will probably be on a blogging sabbatical for a few days. When you are tossing your cookies it's hard to get dressed. What was I thinking, not getting a flu shot- I work with the public, and not just any public, teenage public! They are swapping germs like crazy! I wasn't feeling well yesterday either so I went with some lose comfy clothes, and tried not to lose my shape entirely.

Fit Question....

Question for you readers:
Due to running and diabetes I have lost a lot of inches this year. The jacket I'm wearing below is a small, and clearly too big, but XS would have fit my arms funny. Tailoring is on its way though! The shirt in my Easter pic is an XS, and I had to keep pulling it up today as it draped off my body. Where on earth do you shop if you have a super petite upper half? I do still have somewhat of a bust line, but jackets which I wear all the time seem to be something impossible to find anymore! I used to frequent the Gap as my mainstay, and small is OK there, and Loft has recently been my fave, but that's where this shirt is from, and apparently only some work for me.
Any tips for a girl with a new body to dress? I know I look normal in pics, but I am truly struggling to find great fits right now, particularly in jackets, and this is almost like swearing here, but shopping has become less fun for me since few items fit right.
ANY stores or tips? Any brands you love that fit petite people? What's the best place for an hourglass girl that used to be a pear? Am I doomed to learn how to tailor?

Easter Sunday

I looked pretty hard for a dress this year, and I guess I'm not the only one, because low and behold spring dresses appeared to be non-existent this year! Several stylish women I go to church with were even in black and white or settled for a cute skirt, because apparently Phoenix didn't get the Easter memo this year. I'm sure I'll find some one mega sale in the next month somewhere! At least I found a sweet skirt!

It was hot today, like 93 degrees, the long AZ summers are almost here. I enjoyed pulling out my spring related items today. I'm planning on more white than black, and more light than dark. And oh yeah, it's skirt season- which are the best for my curvy body!
